As 2020 winds down, it’s important to highlight the positives so we can build momentum into the new year. Yeah, we could sit around, being depressed and miserable. That would be easy. Turn your focus to the positives and build your better life starting today. Without further ado, we’d like to announce that Andrew “Dru Phoenix” Cuthbert (@dru_phoenix) is December’s Dad of the Month!
Andrew “Dru Phoenix” Cuthbert is a Father, Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a Marine Veteran. After separating from service, he struggled with PTSD and depression, and found Post Traumatic Growth by way of empowering others and Brazilian Jiu-Jiujitsu. In April of 2019, the Gods blessed him with his first born son, Khalil. Upon his recent promotion to black belt, he started his own academy, @aandmbjj and is currently running the school along side his business partner and cousin Devin.
“My philosophy on parenting is simple, lead from a place of love, honor and respect his mother, and knowing when to be tender and when to be aggressive”
He adds: “My favorite thing about being a dad is seeing the all of the me he inherited, how much he loves being on the mats with me, taking naps together, and seeing him grow into his own little character. Plus he looks like me so I get to through that in his mom’s face. I win 🤣”
Congrats brother!
