Guys are competitive creatures, and we are always looking for ways to improve. That edge may help us with our jobs, love lives, or overall confidence. It’s why we look for new techniques to lift heavier weight, improve our investments, or meet more women. Appearance matters, and this tip will help you kill several birds with one stone. Read on to understand how to look more masculine with one simple fix.
Tailoring Helps You Look More Masculine
What if I gave you a way to look better, attract more women, be taken more seriously at work and feel more confident? Would you give it a try? Some of you probably already know this tip, but from what I’ve noticed many don’t… and it’s not their fault. If you never had anyone teach you this, there’s a good chance you never even thought about it. This is why your big bro wants to bring this to your attention.
I’m not recommending that you go to the store and buy thousands of dollars worth of clothes, but I am recommending you go out and get some clothes that fit you correctly. Whether that means bringing your existing threads to a tailor, or getting measured and buying some new clothing, get it done.
Clothes that fit your frame correctly make you instantly more attractive to the ladies. On top of this, you’ll appear more muscular, more mature, and more symmetrical. It doesn’t mean you have to drop thousands on expensive designer clothing. It just involves understanding your measurements and finding appropriate attire.
Your Measurements
What measurements, you ask? There are the basics, and the more in depth measurements. The basics are the standard measurements you should be aware of when buying clothes off the rack. They are as follows:
- Waistline: pants shouldn’t be too baggy, not too tight.
- Pant length: if pants are too long, you’ll look sloppy. If they’re not long enough, you’ll look like you’re wearing Capri pants.
- Chest circumference: avoid looking like a stuffed sausage
- Shoulder width: don’t drape a sheet over your shoulders
- Arm length: you should not be swimming in your shirt. Nothing says 8-year old boy more than a dude wearing a shirt with sleeves longer than his arms.
Furthermore, when buying pants, shorts, shirts and sweaters, you should consult the sizing guide using your known measurements. Buy the recommended fit; not too small and tight, nor too large and baggy. If you’ve never worn a brand before, check out the reviews to see if they run big or small.
The Perfect Fit
Before you actually purchase, experiment with different brands, because sizes and cuts vary between them. Understand, a size medium in one brand is not the same as a medium in another. So, take the time to try them on to make sure you’re grabbing the correct fit for your frame. You may find that certain brands just don’t work for your body at all. If you can fit into a slim fit, go for it. Your shirts won’t be as baggy, and everything will appear contoured.
The in-depth measurements are worth paying attention to, but probably more important to a professional tailor. If you’re going to buy a suit, a tailored dress shirt, a sports coat or a blazer, your tailor will take these measurements so the clothes look perfect on you:
- neck circumference
- bicep circumference
- wrist circumference
- back length
- stomach circumference
- hip circumference
- inside leg
- thigh
A Masculine Wardrobe
In addition, it’s highly recommended that every man invest in one tailored suit, and one tailored blazer. Choose colors that go with anything; gray and dark blue should do the trick. This may be a bit pricey, but its a smart use of your money due to the enhanced look it’ll bring you, and the longevity you’ll get from these pieces. I make all of my custom purchases at Enzo Custom.
Lastly, always make sure that the foundational pieces of your wardrobe fit you well. This will guarantee you look good in any situation. Unsure of how to build the foundation for your wardrobe? Check this article out.
