Conspiracy Theories From US History That Will Blow Your Mind

Conspiracy theories about government cover-ups of alien visitations have long surrounded the UFO files. However, the latest development marks a major transparency push.

On May 8, 2026, the Pentagon (under the Department of War) began releasing the first tranche of declassified UAP (Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena, formerly UFO) files on a new dedicated site at war.gov/UFO. This release follows President Trump’s February 2026 directive ordering maximum openness on alien and extraterrestrial life, UAP, and related records.

Moreover, this initial batch contains 162 files—including over 120 PDFs, 28 videos, and 14 images—from the FBI, DoD, NASA, State Department, and other agencies. These documents span decades and feature eyewitness reports, photos, videos of orbs and saucers, lunar flashes from Apollo missions, military sightings with dramatic 90-degree turns, and historical records from the 1940s that mention “flying discs.”

So far, investigators have found no definitive evidence of alien technology or recovered craft. Pentagon officials and prior AARO reports stress that experts can explain most cases as mundane objects, balloons, drones, or sensor artifacts. At the same time, they encourage the public to review the files and make up their own minds. Furthermore, the Pentagon plans additional releases on a rolling basis.

Consequently, this effort builds on years of incremental disclosures, whistleblower claims (such as David Grusch’s), and congressional interest. Yet the files still fuel more questions than answers. Therefore, you should check war.gov/UFO for the latest drops.

As we previously noted, the “sci-fi” future has arrived—and many technologies we once saw only on television and in movies are now actively developing in reality.

Conspiracy Theories from American History

Brothers, let’s dive deeper into this topic of conspiracy theories. For years, critics have used the term “conspiracy theory” to dismiss ideas that challenge the official narrative. However, what if some of these theories were not wild speculation but actually grounded in truth? Let’s examine ten conspiracy theories that turned out to be true. Prepare to have your mind blown.

1. Operation Mockingbird During the Cold War, the CIA actively launched Operation Mockingbird to manipulate mainstream media for propaganda purposes. Agency officials recruited journalists to spread specific messages and shape public opinion. In the 1970s, declassified documents and congressional investigations confirmed these activities.

2. MK-Ultra Of all the conspiracy theories, this one stands out as particularly shocking because the government actually ran mind-control experiments. The CIA conducted MK-Ultra by secretly dosing unwitting subjects with LSD and other drugs to develop interrogation and brainwashing techniques. Public exposure finally arrived in 1975, revealing the agency’s unethical and illegal program.

3. The Gulf of Tonkin Incident In 1964, U.S. leaders used the Gulf of Tonkin incident to dramatically escalate involvement in the Vietnam War. Later investigations revealed that officials had exaggerated or fabricated the reported attacks on American ships. As a result, this misinformation helped them justify military action and misled both Congress and the American public.

4. COINTELPRO The FBI deliberately ran COINTELPRO to surveil, infiltrate, and discredit civil rights leaders and organizations, including Martin Luther King Jr. FBI documents released in the 1970s exposed the full extent of these covert operations against American citizens.

5. The Tuskegee Syphilis Study In my opinion, this remains one of the most evil examples on the list. From 1932 to 1972, the U.S. Public Health Service deliberately misled African American men with syphilis, denied them treatment, and observed the disease’s progression. Whistleblowers finally exposed the study in 1972, revealing deep ethical violations and systemic racism in government research.

6. Watergate Scandal Investigative journalists uncovered how President Richard Nixon’s administration engaged in illegal wiretapping, burglary, and sabotage against political opponents. The resulting trials and evidence forced Nixon to resign in 1974, exposing corruption at the highest level of government.

7. The Iran-Contra Affair During the 1980s, Reagan administration officials secretly sold arms to Iran—despite an arms embargo—and funneled the money to fund Contra rebels in Nicaragua. Congressional investigations later exposed the operation and triggered major political scandal.

8. Big Tobacco’s Lies For decades, tobacco companies actively suppressed scientific research and lied to the public about the dangers of smoking. Internal documents revealed in the 1990s proved these corporations deliberately hid health risks to keep consumers addicted and protect profits.

9. NSA Surveillance In 2013, Edward Snowden courageously revealed the NSA’s massive surveillance program that collected data on American citizens and foreign leaders without public knowledge or consent. His disclosures shocked the world and sparked global debate about privacy versus security.

10. The CIA’s Involvement in Drug Trafficking During the 1980s, elements within the CIA participated in drug trafficking to help fund Contra rebels in Nicaragua. Former agents and multiple investigations later confirmed the agency’s complicity in these criminal operations.

Brothers, these examples clearly show that sometimes the wildest conspiracy theories are rooted in hard reality. They encourage us to question official narratives and think critically about who controls the information we receive. The real shocker? This list probably only scratches the surface.
